Service Offering – UNIX


Daily

  • Monitoring Files system alerts and errors.
  • Performance monitoring of production servers.
  • Monitoring for hardware errors and alerts.
  • Housekeeping activities.
  • Check for successful backups of production servers.
  • Analyzing server logs like /var/log/messages and cluster logs.
  • Working on Incident and Change Management Tickets.
  • Any OS report generation as and when needed basis. Ex: Uptime report for servers, Performance report, etc…
  • User administration
  • Monitor the completion logs for schedule jobs in OS.
  • Coordinate with vendor support for software/hardware issues.
  • Co-ordination with Other support teams which presence is only in onsite.
  • Co-ordinate with vendor support for hardware issues and hardware replacement.
  • Hands and Feet Support (on demand)
  • Co-ordinate with vendor support for hardware issues and hardware replacement.
  • Hands and Feet Support (on demand).

Weekly

  • Performing Change Request on schedule basis.
  • Supporting the vendor for Hardware replacements.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedure for the activities performed.
  • Schedule OS mksysb backup and Monitor its completion.
  • Cron Schedule , Participate in CCB meetings.
  • RCA (On MIR occurrence) , KEDB updates

     Monthly/Quarterly

  • Patch and Package management
  • Upgrade of firmware for Hardware.
  • Disk Management
  • New server build based on the request from Solution Architect.
  • RCA (On MIR occurrence)
  • Identify risks in the environment and update the stake holders.
  • Identify Service Improvement plan
  • Asset Management , Package builds
  • Software distribution for patch upgrades.
  • Discuss and plan for new server/project builds with solution architect.
  • Discussion with Solution Architect for the new environment/project builds.
  • Power down/Power up of Physical Servers.

     Yearly

  • Upgradation of third party tools like control-m, patrol, netbackup agents, etc…
  • Upgrades of HMC, ILO, etc.
  • DR activity for agreed services.
  • License renewal for Vendor support.
  • New server build based on the request from Solution Architect.
  • Identify and decommission the servers which are no longer used.
  • Server hardening and compliance monitoring.
  • Plan for hardware and Operating System upgrades.
  • Plan for DR Schedules and carry out the DR procedure on demand.
  • Involve in Planning and execution of new in-flight projects.
