Windows Activities
Windows Servers Infrastructure Maintenance which include managing OS and Wintel Hardware.
Daily
• Check system log for warning and error messages for hardware, network failures and Printers management (Event Viewer).
• Check for memory usage Check for system paging Check CPU usage (Performance Log and Alerts, Task Manager & System Monitor)
• Check all drives for adequate free space (Disk Defragmenter, Disk Management & Disk Quotas)
• Service Request – which comprises of all the incoming requests for the server team to work and resolve the issue.
• Production Calls – Acknowledge all the incoming calls with the priority.
• If signature file is not up to date, download and install current Anti-Virus signature files.
• Monitoring – SCOM / MOM / Other monitoring software’s which is precautionary measures to prevent the incidents.
• Major incidents – To work with priorities to achieve the RTS and follow the escalation procedure within the SLA

Weekly
• Performing Changes in Windows environment.
• Scheduling the changes and coordinating with application owners , Server Reboot Schedule.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis and work with Incident Management Team to provide required inputs.
• Problem Management, Documentation of Windows Related Issues.
• Trend Analysis for Incident tickets.
Monthly
• Windows Security patches for Test, Development & Production environments.
• Periodical audits for the severs (security vulnerabilities)
• Disk expansion / SAN audit across the Physical servers to find the servers which running out of spaces or other domain activities which involves upgrade.
• Inventory management for Physical servers and Printers.
• Vendor coordination [HP, IBM, DELL] to be co-operated through the protocol defined by FASTLAB (Software Lifecycle, Release, Change – upgrades, etc.)
• Server availability for all windows servers.
• Commissioning & decommissioning servers.
• Service improvement plan.
Yearly
• Hardware refresh activates for the old servers.
• OS upgrades.
• Other migration activities for the application which involves the Operating system configuration changes.
• Firmware upgrade for physical servers.
• Changing Local administrator password once in a year.
• Review hardware and compare to inventory list Review software and compare to inventory list Update VMS, where applicable.
• Maintain disaster recovery plans, regular review to ensure D/R strategy aligns with business requirements.
ADD-ON SERVICE OFFERING – Windows
Daily
• Tasks visually check the equipment for amber lights, alarms, etc.
• Take appropriate action as specified by site’s Standard Operating Procedures.
• Hands on support for servers & printers.
• Service Request – which comprises of all the incoming requests for the server team to work and resolve the issue.
• Production Calls – Acknowledge all the incoming calls with the priority.
• Incident Management.
